This year's Champions League was always going to be special.
With the unerring dominance of Barcelona finally laid to rest last year following the emergence of Bayern Munich's all-conquering machine, a new era has been ushered into European football.
Alongside that there's the introduction of the unprecedented underdog factor to take into account, with the previously unfancied sides like PSG and Borussia Dortmund genuinely in with a chance of winning it this year.
As always the regulars will more than likely be hoping to out-do each other in the knockouts rounds, and with the usually ever-present English giants all having faltered in some respect so far this season, things are growing more interesting by the week.
With only three matches left to decide who makes the grade in terms of qualification for the knockouts phases, we at GMS thought it might be a good idea to revisit the Champions League contenders list and whittle it down a more realistic band of five.
