2: Real Madrid
Under Jose Mourinho Madrid were never quite able to realise the dream of European glory, but Carlo Ancelotti gives them a different approach, and one that could go some way to tempering their usually goal-hungry style.
With Cristiano Ronaldo having already bagged seven goals in three European outings, and Madrid sitting pretty at the top of the group at the halfway stage, you can count on them being there or thereabouts.
They have had relatively tame start by their normal standards to the La Liga campaign- by way of not beating teams 4/5-0 religiously- but they've looked brilliant in the Champions League and survived their first real test by beating Juventus 2-1 last night.
Ancelotti's teams are always hard to beat, and if he can successfully balance their superiority going forward with keeping them tight at the back, Madrid might finally be able to make that elusive tenth European title their own.
