Bayern Munich & Chelsea are preparing to launch record-breaking, sensational raids for Lionel Messi this coming summer, according to reports.
It was revealed last week that three clubs, all backed by Adidas, had tabled £210million offers for the Barcelona super-star in the summer, but that they had all been flatly refused.
Now however it's being rumoured that Bayern are set to return with a new offer in June, with Adidas agreeing to pay half of the costs of his €250million release clause to lure him away from the Nou Camp, where he is under sponsorship with Nike.
The source also says that the other two clubs- Chelsea potentially being one of them- are set to return with offers, in a bid to make an impossible deal a reality.
According to French newspaper Le 10 Sport, Francois Gallardo, the agent who has been involved with numerous high-profile negotiations in the past, confirmed that the three Adidas-backed sides would renew their attempts to sign Messi at the end of the current campaign.
Messi is reportedly still in talks with Barcelona over a new and improved contract that would place him above Cristiano Ronaldo as the world's highest paid player.
Whilst Chelsea will no doubt do all they can to secure the services of possibly the greatest player who has ever lived, one gets the feeling that Bayern could be favourites to capture his signature if he were to ever leave Spain.
Messi shared a close relationship with Pep Guardiola during the pair's time at Barcelona together and, with Guardiola now in charge of the German champions, he could be best placed to broker a deal.
