Inter Milan are tracking Sunderland midfielder Emanuele Giaccherini, according to talkSPORT.

The Italian international moved to the north east club from Juventus for £7.6m this summer; however, with the Black Cats struggling at the bottom of the table, Inter could be tempted to make a bid of around of £6.5m in January.

The Italian club have recently been taken over by new owner Erick Thohir and are expected to spend big in the new year.

Giaccherini insists he is happy at Sunderland, however, he could be set for a return to Serie A after less than six months in England.

The midfielder who impressed during last year's FIFA Confederations Cup with Italy, has been one of the only positive aspects of Sunderland's season so far, they lie bottom of the Premier League with one point.

Giaccherini has scored three goals in all competitions so far this season.
