Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has said that he would happily have Cesc Fabregas back at the club in the future.

Next Monday marks Fabregas' debut for Arsenal when he was just 16 years old. He played a total of 303 games for the Gunners before leaving in 2011 in a £35 million deal.

The Spanish star, a target for Manchester United during the summer, told the Daily Mail and The Guardian in an interview that he would be very interested in becoming a coach at the Gunners when his playing career comes to an end.

Although this would not be for a long time yet, Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has already said that he would welcome Fabregas back.

"I am very happy that a player of his intelligence, technical ability and knowledge of the game would come back one day,"  said a buoyant Wenger.

"I hope he is right on the two sides. That he'll come back shows he has kept fond memories of this club."

Fabregas also said in his interview that he thinks Arsenal have the right "strength of character" to challenge for the Premier League title.

Wenger watched his side overcome going down to ten men after the sending off of Mikel Arteta to prevail 2-0 away at Crystal Palace early Saturday afternoon.
