PSG to rival Tottenham for Juan Mata signing

French giants Paris St-Germain are set to renew their interest in Chelsea star Juan Mata in January, according to The Telegraph.

The Ligue 1 champions look to have set their sights on bringing the Premier League star across the Channel, after seeing Mata's opportunities limited under new manager Jose Mourinho this season.

It was reported that Chelsea turned down an approach for Spaniard at the end of the summer transfer window, but with Mata no doubt having a place in Spain's World Cup squad in mind, a renewed bid could be welcomed by the winger.

Chelsea's Premier League London rivals Tottenham Hotspur have also been linked with a move for the 25-year-old, with manager Andre Villas-Boas wanting to bring his former Blues man across the City.

But with Spurs being a title rival to Mourinho's men this season, a transfer to France for Mata seems the more realistic situation.

Having been named Chelsea's Player of the Season last year, it has been strange that Mata has not been used more regularly by the Portuguese manager.

And with the talent that Mata possess it is unlikely he will be happy to sit on the Blues' bench for an extended period.

Mata and Chelsea host title rivals Manchester City at Stamford Bridge today, with both the player and the team looking to impress.
