This weekend has already seen some great goalscoring displays across Europe  - with more to come today no doubt as Chelsea face title rivals Manchester City.

The Premier League, La Liga and Bundesliga featured some fantastic forward play yesterday with some of the world's best strikers showing exactly why they have that title associated with their names.

Just missing out on the top three is Mario Mandzukic and Mario Götze. The Bayern Munich stars helped their side come back from a goal down to win 3-2 against Hertha Berlin.

Madzukic's double was aided by attacking-midfielder Gotze's strike to claim all three points.

But here is the top three deadliest partnerships of the weekend.

3) Barcelona - Neymar and Alexis Sanchez.

These two Barcelona stars may not combine regularly this season with the amount of talent in the squad, but it was the importance of their goals that get this duo a place in the top three.

Barcelona hosted their La Liga rivals Real Madrid at the Nou Camp for El Clasico yesterday, with both sides going all out for victory and the bragging rights.

Both teams lined-up with new star signings - Brazilian Neymar for Barca and former Tottenham hero Gareth Bale for Madrid.

It was to be a fantastic night for one and a poor night for the other.

Bale didn't live up to his hype in this fixture and failed to influence the proceedings. A booking in the first half was followed by his substitution mid-way through the second.

Neymar however found his feet in the fixture straight away - scoring his first El clasico goal after 19 mins.

Sanchez's superb chip goal in the 77th minute double his side's lead and ultimately secured the win for Barca and El Clasico glory.

2) Manchester United  - Wayne Rooney and Robin van Persie.

Both players have suffered with injury problems this season, which has resulted in their partnership being restricted.

But, with both players available to take to the Old Trafford field in yesterday's league clash against Stoke they were bound to combine.

Van Persie was the first of the duo on the score sheet after the Dutchman converted Rooney's saved header to bring United level after an early Stoke opener.

England star Rooney repeated his partner's heroics and got United their second equaliser of the match after meeting Van Perie's corner to guide the ball home with a precise header.

The Red Devils grabbed a late winner through Javier Hernandez to claim all three points, with Rooney and Van Persie once again proving they are a dream combination.

1) Liverpool - Luis Suarez and Daniel Sturridge.

The deadliest duo of the weekend are awarded to Liverpool's Suarez and Sturridge.

These two can not stop scoring.

Suarez and Sturridge, or better known as 'SAS', have scored 14 league goals between them this season.

This total is even more remarkable when the fact the Suarez missed the first five league games of the season due to suspension is added to the equation.

The duo scored all four of the Reds' goals in their 4-1 league win over West Brom at Anfield yesterday.

A superb hat-trick from Suarez was added to by Sturridge's sensational lobbed goal from outside the area.

There could be no stopping these two if yesterday is anything to go by.
