Gareth Bale could be heading back to the Premier League after a very bad start to his Real Madrid career.

According to the Sunday Times, Manchester United are hopeful they can sign the Welshman from Real Madrid, who paid £86million for Bale this summer.

The paper claims that Bale's woes are so bad that he could even be sold as soon as January.

"United’s calculation is that such pressures could play hard enough on Bale and Perez to leave them receptive to a summer transfer," the paper reports.

On the other side, it looks like Carlo Ancelotti won't hurry with the transfer, after defending the Welsh wizard after Saturday's 2-1 loss against Barcelona.

"He played well and needs to look for his team-mates' runs. He didn't play badly during that hour…" said Ancelotti.

"I think they are his first matches and he needs to get used to playing with his team-mates, which is normal.

"It doesn't make much difference for him to play on the right or in the middle. We started like that to put more pressure on Sergio Busquets, but after 20 minutes I changed his position to the wing to give him more room."

Currently it seems incredibly far-fetched to think that Bale will be sold so soon after only playing three or four games since his arrival at the Santiago Bernabeu, because of injuries.

He is yet to play for Real Madrid fully fit, he hasn't adapted to the Spanish football yet and nonetheless - he is in a new team.

Yet if things don't change in the near future, Real could consider selling the most expensive player and it wouldn't be Manchester United, who will be the only interested team in swooping Gareth Bale.
