Arsenal and Liverpool are set to fight for the signature of highly-rated German starlet Sebastian Rode, according to the Daily Star.
23-year-old Rode, who joined current club Eintracht Frankfurt from minnows Kickers Offenbach during the summer of 2010, has impressed during a productive three-year stint at the Commerzbank-Arena with a number of eye-catching performances in the heart of Armin Veh's midfield.
Such form has seen him linked with a move to a number of Europe's top clubs, with those aforementioned Premier League rivals and Bavarian giants Bayern Munich - now under the management of Pep Guardiola - among those linked with his signature.
However, the Daily Star suggests that the reigning European champions are no longer in pursuit of Rode, seemingly leaving Arsene Wenger and Brendan Rodgers to battle it out for the signing of a hugely promising player who is reportedly rated at the £18 million mark.
The former German youth international has made nine appearances in the Bundesliga so far this season but is yet to etch his name onto the scoresheet.
