If there was ever any extra pressure on Sebastian Vettel and Red Bull this weekend it never showed as the German topped all sessions en route to his fourth world title. As a result, the 2013 Indian Grand Prix can be summed up in quote - one man and his Bull.
The 26-year-old was simply in a league of his own as Vettel cruised to victory number ten of
this season and his sixth in succession.
In a weekend where the soft tyres couldn't last the pace, Red Bull and Vettel proved again how much of a team effort F1 is by using a mix of strategy and raw speed to leave the other teams trailing in their wake.
Realising the option tyre was no good over a long stint, Red Bull took no chances using a strategy that ensured the unpredictable rubber could not affect their race - indeed Vettel and teammate Mark Webber only used the yellow-marked tyres for 2 laps each.
With the prime tyre offering far more durability and a car that allowed for an aggressive strategy, Red Bull took a chance by pitting Vettel early and putting him into the pack.
Some teams would not have taken the risk especially as so few also began on the soft compound and traffic could have been a problem, however with Vettel's pace and the easiness of overtaking in the DRS zone, he was able to breeze back to the front with no dramas returning to second by lap 26.
That's 17th to second in just 23 laps, even the doubters have to give praise for that. The German was even able to keep closing on Webber throughout the time he was coming back through so, as a result, when the Australian pitted and the strategy in theory meant he could come out ahead, he only had ten seconds of advantage before heading in for new rubber.
That was where Vettel won the race and while Webber's alternator failure will again cause quite a few to say 'why does it always happen to Webber?' even if he had stayed in the race he'd have had no chance of catching his teammate.
Mercedes can be very pleased with their Indian weekend. After a few poor races recently they
rebounded well with Nico Rosberg capitalising on Webber's retirement to take second. With Lewis Hamilton taking sixth they also jumped Ferrari in the constructors' standings.
Drive of the day, though, has to go to Romain Grosjean. The Frenchman was visibly angry after a major miscalculation left him 17th in qualifying, however rather than get frustrated like the Romain of old, he produced a stunning fightback and proved why he is probably second best behind Vettel at the moment to take third.
Meanwhile Ferrari must be wondering what is going on. Contact with Webber in the first few corners clearly hampered Fernando Alonso, indeed the Spaniard was coping with heavy steering throughout the race but he never looked like making it back to the points following his early stop for a new front wing.
As for Massa it was a solid day. After ignoring his team and going his own way in qualifying, he
proved himself right moving up to second on the first lap and while he was unable to maintain that position, finishing fourth must give him a lot of personal pride.
Another mention must also go to Sergio Perez. The Mexican has been under increasing pressure as of late with no confirmed drive for 2014, however he did his stock a world of good running well on his long first stint and then being clinical when the chances came - particularly in passing Hamilton late in the race.
But the weekend and the year belonged to Vettel, it was a fitting tribute as he bowed before his RB9 after doing some donuts post-race, but once again he proved he is more than worthy of his status as a four-time world champion as he and his team continue their domination.
