Manchester City striker John Guidetti has moved to calm irate Liverpool fans who mistakenly thought the Swedish striker had disparaged the Anfield club on his Twitter account.

Liverpool fans reacted angrily after a tweet from the account 'supperguidetti' said: "I am NOT going to Liverpool. I'm not desperate."

The City forward was linked with a move to Liverpool earlier this month, but Guidetti has since pointed out his Twitter account is actually 'superguidetti' - the fake 'supperguidetti' profile is actually a 'parody' account.

The rogue 'p' tricked Reds fans who thought the City striker was rudely dismissing the transfer rumours, but Guidetti took to his real Twitter profile to correct the reports.

"Just to let everyone know I have NOT, NEVER said or written that about #Liverpool! I think #Liverpool is an amazing club," tweeted Guidetti.

The fake tweet was retweeted several times, and according to the Manchester Evening News, was picked up by Liverpool fans who directed their displeasure at the City frontman.

The 21-year-old is yet to make a first-team appearance this season, and has been linked with a move away from the Etihad Stadium - with Anfield boss Brendan Rodgers thought to be interested.
