Liverpool striker Luis Suarez is worth more than Real Madrid's world record acquisition Gareth Bale, according to former Anfield star John Aldridge.
Bale left Tottenham for Real Madrid during the summer transfer window in a deal worth €100 million, which surpassed the fee Los Blancos had paid to sign Cristiano Ronaldo from Real Madrid four years previous.
Suarez was also linked with a transfer to Madrid over the summer months, but the only public offers for the Uruguay international came from Arsenal, which Liverpool flatly rejected.
The 26-year-old has not allowed an aborted move to the Emirates Stadium to hinder his Liverpool form, with Suarez having found the next six times in five appearances since his return from suspension.
His goals, along with those of Daniel Sturridge, have propelled Liverpool to the upper echelons of the Premier League table, and Aldridge believes that Suarez deserves to be valued among the very best in the world.
"It's hard to believe that the highest bid Liverpool FC received for Luis Suarez back in the summer was £40million plus £1 from Arsenal," Aldridge wrote in the Liverpool Echo.
"It’s no wonder the owners scoffed at that valuation because Suarez is worth more than double that.
"Gareth Bale, who went from Tottenham to Real Madrid for £85million, is a quality player but he’s no Suarez."
