The 31-year-old has been limited to a bit-part role this season as Andre Villas-Boas usually opts to play Roberto Soldado as the lone striker.

Defoe revealed in September that he was unhappy sitting on the bench, so a move away from Tottenham could be in the pipeline.

The former West Ham striker will want to stay in the Premier League - but may well have to move to the MLS if he does not receive an attractive proposal.
