Manchester United sealed their spot in the fifth round of the Capital One Cup by beating fellow Premier League side Norwich City.
Red Devils striker Javier Hernandez followed up his winner against Stoke at the weekend by scoring a brace against Chris Hughton’s side before Phil Jones and Fabio completed the rout.
Manchester United boss David Moyes made nine changes to the side that won at the weekend - with the likes of Wilfried Zaha, Ashley Young and Hernandez all being handed the chance to impress the former Everton manager.
Hernandez opened the scoring in the 20th minute when Leroy Fer was judged to have fouled United starlet Adnan Januzaj inside the penalty area – leaving the Mexican striker to score his third goal of the season from the penalty spot.
United continued to dictate play in the second half and capitalised on their dominance when Hernandez doubled his tally for the night in the 54th minute by nodding home from close range.
Norwich manager Hughton was dealt a further blow when Robert Snodgrass had to be stretchered off with what looked to be a serious head injury.
Jones added a third in the 88th minute after blasting a volley past the helpless Mark Bunn before substitute Fabio poked home from close range.
