Ferguson names Chelsea legend as favourite non-United player

Sir Alex Ferguson has revealed his favourite non Manchester United player to watch was Chelsea legend Gianfranco Zola, according to the Daily Mail.

Speaking at an event at the Lowry Art Centre in Manchester for the launch of his new autobiography, the legendary United manager admitted Zola was his one of his favourite Premier League players of all-time.

The Chelsea superstar spent seven seasons at Stamford Bridge, scoring 59 league goals in just over 200 appearances.

The Italian playmaker loved to score great goals, and inflicted his fair share of misery on the United boss with a number of stunning strikes against the Red Devils - including the one in the video above.

The 'live in conversation' event on Monday evening was the first of five stops for the ex-United boss at venues up and down the United Kingdom and Ireland.

Former-Chelsea striker Zola wasn't in attendance to hear the great United manager sing his praises but current Old Trafford boss David Moyes and former-Red Devils ace Sir Bobby Charlton were.

One particular anecdote saw Ferguson recall the time Zola, in action for Chelsea, turned then United centre-back Gary Pallister inside out so many times that the United defender 'needed a ticket to get back in.'
