Arsenal have been joined by Valencia in the race to sign Chelsea striker Demba Ba, according to The Daily Star.
Ba, who has been used sparingly at Stamford Bridge under Jose Mourinho so far this season, looked set to join The Gunners in the summer, however a a move fell through after the north London outfit were against paying a loan fee.
However, Wenger's side are still a striker short and want the Chelsea hit-man at the Emirates, but with Valencia now having entered the race for his signature, Wenger may find it difficult to bring the former Newcastle man to the club.
The Chelsea striker is currently behind Fernando Torres and Samuel Eto'o in the pecking order at the Bridge, and with Romelu Lukaku set to enter the frame next season, Ba's long-term future remains uncertain.
And, as Valencia look to improve their front-line, the forward could act as the ideal signing for the La Liga outfit.
