This season represents something of a change from the norm in the European goalscoring charts, with none of Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo or Robin van Persie able to top their respective domestic rankings.
Messi has scored eight times in nine La Liga appearances, something of a drought for him, while Ronaldo has registered the same amount of strikes as his great rival, but in one more game.
Van Persie, meanwhile, has displayed little of the form for Manchester United that saw him win the Premier League's golden boot in the previous two seasons, with only five goals so far this term.
