FIFA reveals 2013 Ballon d'Or nominees (1)

The International Federation of Association Football, commonly known
as FIFA, has revealed the selected candidates for the 2013 Ballon d'Or
award.

Ballon d'Or, which dates back to 1956, is an annual prestigeous award
presented to the footballer who has been voted as the FIFA World
player of the year.

The award is based on votes by captains and coaches of national teams,
as well as Journalists from around the world.

This year's list is composed of the 23 candidates highlighted below:

1. Gareth Bale (Wales),
2. Edinson Cavani (Uruguay),
3. Radamel Falcao (Colombia),
4. Eden Hazard (Belgium),
5. Zlatan Ibrahimović (Sweden),
6. Andrés Iniesta (Spain),
7. Philipp Lahm (Germany),
8. Robert Lewandowski (Poland),
9. Lionel Messi (Argentina),
10.Thomas Müller (Germany),
11. Manuel Neuer (Germany),
12. Neymar (Brazil),
13. Mesut Özil (Germany),
14. Andrea Pirlo (Italy),
15. Franck Ribéry (France),
16. Arjen Robben (Netherlands),
17. Cristiano Ronaldo (Portugal),
18. Bastian Schweinsteiger (Germany),
19. Luis Suárez (Uruguay),
20. Thiago Silva (Brazil),
21. Yaya Touré (Côte d’Ivoire),
22. Robin Van Persie (Netherlands),
23. Xavi (Spain).

The winner of the award will be announced at the Zurich Kongresshaus
on January 13, 2014.
