Chelsea star aiming to hunt down Arsenal

Cesar Azpilicueta wants to catch Arsenal in the Premier League after knocking them out of the Capital One Cup last night, according to the Metro.

The right-back scored in the 2-0 victory at the Emirates along with a goal from fellow Spaniard Juan Mata and he was pleased with the performance of his side.

"We controlled most of the game," he said

"We felt really confident on the pitch. We had two or three more chances but the feeling inside of us was that we were dominating Arsenal in their stadium and they are top of the table, so it’s very nice.

"They had some injuries and we are without Marco van Ginkel but we have a really good squad. Every player can play, we try to do our best in every game we play, to give 100 per cent and to keep fighting for titles."

And Azpilicueta, 24, is keen to add to his sole trophy he has won at the club, the UEFA Europa League, since joining from Marseille, and wants to cut Arsenal's lead at the top of the Premier League.

"We need to arrive at the end of the season with chances to win every trophy," the Spaniard said.

"We are improving in every game and this is the most important thing. We are growing up as a team. We are in second, two points less than Arsenal and we’re now going to try and get up to first."

And Chelsea are a side who proved last night with their squad depth that they are capable of competing on all four fronts. They are beginning to find the form expected of them from manager Jose Mourinho, and have a looked a much better side since their slip-up against Everton earlier in the season.
