Strike partnerships have received something of a revival lately.

With talk of the Wayne Rooney and Robin van Persie combination, and the mentions of SAS at Anfield, the re-emergence of the striking double-act is well and truly upon us.

For a long time lone front-men dominated tactical boards up and down the country.

As trend drifted from the 4-3-3 to the 4-2-3-1, we still see many a lone figure in a side's attack - but strike partnerships are growing in popularity once more.
