Jose Mourinho will not allow Juan Mata to leave the club for any of Chelsea's Premier League rivals in January, according to Portuguese newspaper A Bola.
Mata has been persistently linked with the exit door at Stamford Bridge this year, having seen his status as a key-player cut significantly by Mourinho's decision to leave him on the bench more often than not.
And this week more reports emerged that he could move in January, with the likes of Manchester United and Tottenham said to be keeping tabs on his situation.
However Mourinho is believed to have already made up his mind concerning Mata's future, and has ruled out any switch to another English club.
The Special One's former No.2 Andre Villas-Boas has affirmed an interest in the Spaniard, but Mourinho is preparing to rebuff the advances of any suitors in January, as he wants to keep the 25-year-old.
