We all love beautiful, graceful, attacking football.

It keeps eyes transfixed and draws applause and adulation from crowds  from pundits and managers around the world for "trying to play the right way".

And while all that is good and lovely, so often the axis of a successful team in the Premier League is in their defensive solidity.

Jose Mourinho's first Chelsea side earnt admirers for only conceding 15 goals in a whole Premier League season, whilst Sir Alex Ferguson has overseen a world record for minutes without conceding in the league in his time at Manchester United.
