Manchester City want Celtic 'keeper to replace Hart

Manchester City boss Manuel Pellegrini is eyeing up a move for Celtic stopper Fraser Forster in the new year, according to the Metro.

The news heightens speculation about the future of current City 'keeper Joe Hart, who has endured a miserable run of form since the beginning of this season, resulting in his credentials for a first-team spot being called into question.

Pellegrini was said to be interested in the prospect of acquiring someone to give Hart realistic competition between the sticks, and now Forster is being mooted as the number one target.

Forster, who is also being linked with Spanish champions Barcelona, has seen his stock somewhat increase since his arrival at Celtic, and will be scouted over the coming weeks.

Neil Lennon is thought to be after at least £10million for his star performer, but City may be tempted to offer some of their players in a bid to get the deal resolved quickly.
