The Celtic 'keeper has earned rave reviews for his performances in the Champions League, while his form in the SPL has been equally impressive.
That's in stark contrast to Joe Hart who has made a series of high-profile blunders this season, with pundits questioning whether he deserves a starting spot for club or country.
Forster is Hart's main competition for the England jersey, and he could soon be breathing down his neck in Manchester with the Citizens joining a host of clubs who wish to bring in the 25-year-old.
City boss Manuel Pellegrini was already considering signing a new 'keeper in January, and Hart's run of costly errors has reinforced the manager's view.
However, Pellegrini will face some hefty competition for the 6ft7 former Newcastle man.
Both Manchester United and European giants Barcelona are rumoured to be interested, although it remains unclear where Forster's preferred destination is.
Just recently Barca maestro Xavi tipped the Englishman to be a success should he move to the Nou Camp.
"I can’t say that I watch him every week – but when we have played Celtic he has shown that he is a world-class goalkeeper," Xavi is quoted as saying.
"From what I have seen he has everything to succeed at a club like Barcelona – and with his Champions League performances for Celtic I am sure there will be more than one big club interested in him."
While manager Neil Lennon accepted keeping his number one will be difficult.
"It’s going to be impossible to keep Fraser, the way he’s playing," Lennon said in the Metro. "Inevitably, I think a huge club will come in and make a huge bid for him."
A January move to a bigger club may interest Forster as he looks to oust Hart in the England goal ahead of next summer's World Cup.
