Chelsea & PSG in shock player swap involving Mata?

Published 5 Comments

Chelsea could be tempted into swapping disillusioned star Juan Mata for PSG ace Blaise Matuidi, according to French newspaper Le 10 Sport.

The Blues are caught in somewhat of a conundrum concerning Mata, as Mourinho is determined to keep hold of him, but has also highlighted Matuidi as a potential signing.

And, according to Le 10, there may be an option on the cards that neither club has really given thought to yet; trading the two players in a direct swap-deal.

PSG have been public with their pursuit of the Blues' playmaker, and reports suggest that a €35million bid could come in from the French champions in January, regardless of Chelsea's stance on his future.

Matuidi is set to be offered a new contract by his club, with his current deal up in the summer of next year, but if a January deal could be negotiated, it may be in the best interests of all involved.

Whilst Mata strangely seems surplus to requirements under Mourinho at Stamford Bridge, is seen as having the ability to add a little something extra to his current squad.

However if Matuidi opts to pen a new deal, it could scupper either clubs chance of getting their man.
