Manchester United are confident star striker Wayne Rooney will sign a new deal at Old Trafford, reports the Daily Star.
The Premier League champions are desperate to tie the 28-year-old down to a new long-term contract, as the striker's current deal runs out at the end of next season.
Manchester United's title rivals Chelsea were keen on signing Rooney during the summer, however the Red Devils refused to let the England international move to Stamford Bridge.
Rooney has been in fantastic form for Manchester United over the last two months, with the striker scoring six goals in 12 games for David Moyes' side so far this season.
Moyes has been particularly pleased with Rooney's fine form and is keen on handing the former Everton striker a new deal.
Reports suggest contract talks between Manchester United and Rooney's representatives will start in January.
Rooney, who made a cameo appearance against Norwich on Tuesday, is expected to start Manchester United's Premier League encounter against Fulham on Saturday.
