Arsene Wenger is confident that striker Olivier Giroud can help his Arsenal side see off Liverpool this weekend.
Arsenal and Liverpool have set the pace early on in the Premier League and go head to head at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday evening.
Liverpool's strike partnership Luis Suarez and Daniel Sturridge have started the season on fire, bagging 14 goals between them.
Arsenal tried to sign Suarez over the summer and had two bids rejected by Liverpool. Suarez initially agitated for a move away from Liverpool but has seemingly fallen back into line and is now back to his best.
Wenger was keen to play down the significance of his pursue the Liverpool striker, and says he believes Giroud can have the final say on matters on Saturday.
He [Suarez] plays for Liverpool tomorrow,’ said the Frenchman.
‘What’s important to me are the players who play for Arsenal, not the players who could play for Arsenal.
‘[Olivier] Giroud has been exceptional since the start of the season and has a different style to Suarez.
‘Suarez and [Daniel] Sturridge are among the top strikers in the league. I have complete confidence that we will deal well with this period, the players will be up for it.’
Arsenal look light in the striker department, with only Nicklas Bendtner on hand to offer any kind of cover.
Wenger refused to discuss details of his bid to sign Suarez in the summer, saying only: "The details may come out one day. Maybe not in my book, someone else’s book."
