Seven makes from 23 shots - does that remind you of 2010-11 MVP Derrick Rose? It certainly doesn't do the job for me. That doesn't even look bad enough to be the stat line for a low-class player, let alone Rose. And yet, it is being said that Rose is officially back.

Rose had the confidence to hit a game-winning basket in the dying seconds of the game between the Chicago Bulls and the New York Knicks on Thursday night.

When Rose was at his peak three years ago, he wasn't known for being 'Mr. Clutch'. Sure, he could knock down some last-second shots but that wasn't his specialty.

He was the Most Valuable Player because he was a great leader and he could score the ball well and assist his teammates really well. In 2010-11 Rose averaged 25 points and 48% from the field and he also had 7.7 assists per game and 4.4 rebounds.

Compare those stats to the ones he showed against the Knicks, where he had 18 points and was 30% from the field (7 of 23). Rose only assisted on three occasions and coughed the ball up four times.

The stats he had against the Knicks are horrendous compared to his 2010-11 season and yet people are saying that he's back.

Let's take a look at what could possibly be meant when people say that D.Rose is back.

If you take it literally, then yes you are 100% correct, Rose is back on the court. But that isn't really achieving anything after missing out a year and a half.

Other people may be saying Rose is back to the way he was when he was at his peak and I'm sorry to say but they are completely wrong. The MVP Rose wouldn't shoot 7 of 23 and only make three assists.

If people were just stating that Rose's game winner was skilful and only someone like him could do it, it would be a complete different story. But people are saying that Rose is back in every part of his game, which is completely false. Rose still has a lot to improve - like his shooting percentage.

I am not hating on Rose. In fact, he is one of my favourites and I love his style of play. But when journalists and supporters start to praise Rose for his entire game when he only had one or two highlights, that really gets my knickers in a knot.

Rose isn't in NBA form, yetThe reason why I put emphasis on the word yet is because that game winner showed a glimpse of the old Rose and shows he is on his way back to stardom.
