New manager Rudi Garcia is the reason for AS Roma's record-breaking opening to the Serie A season, claims defender Leandro Castan.

Roma extended their run to ten wins from ten this season, defeating bottom of the league Chievo Verona last night thanks to Marco Borriello's 67th-minute goal.

And Brazilian defender Castan says Garcia is the reason for the astonishing form.

He told reporters: "We are living through a fine spell thanks to him. He works a lot and works well, he takes care of a lot of details."

French manager Gracia arrived at Roma in the summer from Lille where he built a strong reputation, winning the League and Cup double in the 201/11 season.

Castan added: "Not even in Brazil had I managed to win 10 games in a row. We are in a great moment and that is mainly down to him."

Castan has played at centre-back for every minute of every game alongside summer recruit Medhi Benatia as Roma look to win the Serie A title for the first time since the 2000/01 season.

Roma are now five-points clear of Napoli and Juventus at the top of Serie A with a goal difference of plus 23, having scored 22 and conceding just once.
