Kobe Bryant is set for a windfall payout today from the L.A Lakers as part of his annual salary, according to SlamOnline.

Bryant is set to receive an estimated $24million into his bank account today as part of his contract with the NBA outfit, even though he's currently sidelined with an Achilles tendon injury.

The superstar's complete annual salary stands at $30million, with the remaining $6million to be paid in instalments over the course of the season due to their being a maximum cap of 80% on what a player can be paid in advance.

Bryant was injured in April when he tore his Achilles tendon against Golden State. Despite receiving surgery less than twelve hours following the game, Bryant has still not made his return.

It's looking increasingly likely that the Lakers will opt to extend the contract of their legendary shooting guard, whose current deal expires in June next year.
