Arsenal could be set to boost their attacking options further, with reports suggesting that they are willing to pay a big fee to sign Atletico Madrid striker Diego Costa.

25-year-old Costa has been in tremendous form of late, boasting a superb return of 12 goals in 11 La Liga matches for Diego Simeone's Rojiblancos.

Such fantastic goalscoring effort has seen Costa - who recently pledged his international future to Spain and is reportedly valued at around the £30 million mark - linked with a move away from the Vicente Calderon, with Jose Mourinho's Chelsea believed to be targeting a potential switch.

However, the Daily Star cite reports in Spain that claim that the Gunners are also closely monitoring the Brazilian-born frontman, with long-serving boss Arsene Wenger thought to be prepared to part with a sizeable sum to secure Costa's signature.

Although Wenger's men certainly haven't been lacking in firepower this season, a possible move for another forward is surely only logical given their seemingly chronic lack of depth in the final third.

While powerful Frenchman Olivier Giroud has shown remarkable improvement at the Emirates Stadium during the early stages of the current campaign, many fans fear the club's promising title push could be totally de-railed if the former Montpellier man were to suffer an injury.
