Bayern Munich are preparing to offer Robert Lewandowski, who they are yet to sign, in exchange for Sergio Aguero, reports the Sunday People.

The European champions are in the market for a new forward and see the in-form Argentine international as the perfect addition at the Allianz Arena.

Bayern boss Pep Guardiola is a long-term admirer of the Manchester City star and wanted to bring him to Barcelona during his time at the Nou Camp but didn't have to finances to match City's bid.

Now with the appropriate money, Guardiola is keen to launch a bid to sign Aguero but knows only an astounding offer would tempt Manuel Pellegrini to sell.

But sources close to the club suggest they are preparing just such an offer.

If the Bavarian giants manage to sign Lewandowski from Borussia Dortmund they will immediately offer the Polish striker in exchange for Aguero.

Lewandowski, who has been linked with a move to the Premier League, is odds-on to sign for Dortmund's arch-rivals when his contract expires in the summer but it is thought Guardiola is not as keen on him as the club's hierarchy.

Guardiola has his sights firmly on the Argentine international, who is the joint top scorer in the Premier League this season with eight goals.

It is reported that a bid of at least £40m would be needed to tempt Manchester City in to parting with their little master but Bayern are not fazed and are ready to test their resolve.

The offer of a consistent challenge in the Champions League, as opposed to City's struggles is thought to be enough to convince Aguero to leave the Etihad.
