Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has been given permission to sign a new striker in the January transfer window, reports the Daily Mail.
Mourinho is said to be unhappy with his current crop of strikers - Fernando Torres, Samuel Eto'o and Demba Ba - who have scored a combined two Premier League goals so far this season.
The former Real Madrid boss was particularly unhappy with his players on Saturday, as his side were beaten 2-0 by Newcastle United.
Torres was selected ahead of Eto'o but failed to repay the faith shown by Mourinho and was consequently substituted in the 62nd minute.
Summer signing Eto'o failed to make any real impact on the game and former Newcastle star Ba was not even handed a place on the substitutes' bench, which will add fuel to the rumours that he could be heading for the Stamford Bridge exit door in January.
Chelsea's only other striker - Romelu Lukaku - is currently out on loan at Everton and cannot be recalled in January.
