Barcelona’s Lionel Messi has come out fighting, blaming his physical condition for his recent lack of goals as the Argentinian has gone four league games without netting, reports ESPN.
Barcelona’s all-time top scorer was once again thwarted in his attempts against Espanyol, with both Alexis Sanchez and new boy Neymar stealing the show in Barcelona’s 1-0 victory at the Nou Camp.
The forward took to his Chinese social media account to inform he was still suffering from a recent thigh injury, but given time will be back to his best.
The triple UEFA Champions League winner said: "Games against Espanyol are always very difficult.
"I am still not at 100 percent physically, but I am sure that with the run of games I will pick up rhythm."
The 2008 Olympic gold medalist has already netted 12 goals in 14 appearances this season.
However after a busy summer both personally and professionally, many are questioning whether the talisman has fully recovered.
Messi’s last goal came against AC Milan in the 1-1 draw at the San Siro. The goal drought is the triple Ballon d’Or winners worst run for two years, stretching back to March 2011.
