Manchester United could be set to make a move to sign Real Sociedad’s 22-year-old forward Antoine Griezmann – according to the young starlet himself.
Reports suggest that the La Liga left-winger is being monitored by David Moyes with a view to a potential signing, and the player is happy to talk up the chances of a move.
According to the Express, Griezmann said: “I know that some English clubs are looking at me and Manchester United is on that list. It’s nice to hear that but it doesn’t influence my work.”
The French Under-21 star – currently serving a ban for his country after being discovered with four teammates in a Paris nightclub when he was supposed to be on a training camp – scored 11 goals for Sociedad last season.
Griezmann’s goals helped his side to qualify for the Champions League, and he is set to face David Moyes’ United in Tuesday night’s Group A clash.
“Ryan Giggs is one of my football heroes,” the Frenchman continued. “But now Wayne Rooney to me is the main man at Manchester United.”
United are currently top of Group A having picked up seven points from their past three matches, while their opponents are bottom and yet to pick up a point.
Last time out a second minute own goal from Sociedad’s Inigo Martinez gifted the Red Devils victory at Old Trafford.
But a trip to the Anoeta Stadium – Sociedad’s multi-purpose ground in San Sebastian – could prove trickier for Moyes’ side.
Sociedad are currently seventh in La Liga, and Griezmann has scored seven goals in ten league appearances during the current campaign. Manchester United find themselves in eighth in the Premier League.
