It has been reported by Combate.com that former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Lyoto Machida will meet former Strikeforce LH Champion Gegard Mousasi in his sophomore fight at Middleweight.
Machida had a very successful debut at Middleweight last time out, when he knocked out Mark Munoz on October 26 via head kick in very impressive fashion. The win saw 'The Dragon' rise up the UFC rankings and really made a statement in the division.
Mousasi made his UFC debut against the unknown Ilir Latafi in April 2013, winning by decision.
He was booked to meet Alexander Gustafsson - however the Swede pulled out through injury. It was revealed after the fight that he fought with a knee injury and went through surgery.
It was unknown whether Machida would stay at Middleweight. He is a training partner of former UFC MW Champion Anderson Silva, who fights to regain his title against Chris Weidman on December 28.
However, news emerged that Machida said he is willing to fight 'The Spider' saying that "he wants the belt."
