Luis Suarez backs Ribery for Ballon d'Or

Liverpool forward Luis Suarez has tipped Bayern Munich winger Franck Ribery to win the the Ballon d'Or, reports

Ribery, who won the treble with the German giants last season, could finally overhaul Lionel Messi for the prize after the Argentine star has won the Ballon d'Or on the last four occasions.

And Suarez, who has also been placed on the 23-man shortlist for the award, believes Ribery has done enough to beat the likes of Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo to the prize.

Speaking to RMC, the Uruguayan striker said: "I don't think there's one clear favourite for the Ballon d'Or. Based on last year's performances, Ribery deserves to win it after his incredible treble with Bayern Munich.

However Suarez has praised both Ronaldo and Messi and believes they will rub Ribery close to the award.

He continued by saying: "But Cristiano Ronaldo and Messi have a good case as well following all their goals. They have some spectacular statistics.

"Regardless of who will win it, he deserves it."

The Liverpool forward has also heaped praised on Paris Saint-Germain forward Zlatan Ibrahimovic after his recent fine displays.

The Ligue 1 star has been in outstanding form for the French champions so far this season and Suarez has recognised his talent by saying: "Ibrahimovic really is an incredible player. It's impressive what he does with his tall body.

"His spectacular goals in recent weeks have been inspiring."
