Serie A leaders AS Roma are looking to make a January move for Newcastle midfielder Yohan Cabaye, according to the Daily Mirror.

The French international almost left the Toon side after a summer bid from Arsenal, and skipped their first two games of the season.

A move to Roma could see him reunited with former Lille boss Rudi Garcia. It was here that Cabaye made a name for himself and really started to develop as a footballer.

The Serie A pacemakers are apparently lining up a bid around £12million however, without a transfer request, this is unlikely to allow the Frenchman to leave.

Arsenal put in a similar bid in for Cabaye in August that was turned down.

A transfer request could be likely from Cabaye however. Although he is loyal to Newcastle, it would be difficult to not move to a club that has won every game in the Italian league except one (which they drew) and work under the manager he learnt the most at.
