Liverpool & Arsenal to battle for Newcastle star in January
Brendan Rodgers looks set to compete with Arsene Wenger for the signing of Yohan Cabaye in the New Year
Liverpool look set to do battle with Arsenal in January over the potential signing of Newcastle's key-man Yohan Cabaye, according to the Daily Express.
Arsenal came close to signing the midfield star in the summer, and have been persistently linked with him ever since, with Arsene Wenger said to be keeping tabs on his availability with a view to bringing him to the Emirates in the winter transfer window.
But now it seems they will be rivalled by Premier League high-flyers Liverpool for the Frenchman's signature, with Anfield chiefs confident they can convince him that a move to Merseyside could be more profitable.
Cabaye has established himself as a key performer for Alan Pardew's Magpies over the last two seasons, and is being heavily linked with a move away.
Serie A giants Roma have also declared an interest in luring Cabaye away from St. James' Park, but Newcastle are determined to hold out for their £18million valuation.
With interest increasing by the day, the odds are stacking firmly in favour of the France international leaving Tyneside in January. Where he will be plying his trade however is another matter entirely.
