Spurs starlet target’s contract talks stall

Tottenham Hotspur have been handed a potential transfer boost in pursuit of the ‘new Neymar’.

The Daily Express cite reports from a Brazilian website when claiming that that Neilton is holding out for a much-improved deal from Santos, as his contract moves towards its conclusion in the summer.

An offer of £7,000-a-month has been placed on the table, the report claims, but the player is holding out for £20,000-a-month.

Tottenham Hotspur are thought to have made a £7million move for the player in the summer, the report claims, whilst Sevilla are pondering an audacious £600,000 offer for the player in January.

Neilton, dubbed the new Neymar, has previously admitted he wants to remain at Santos, irrespective of the problems.

"I want to stay. We are negotiating. I am not involved in the talks, but I intend to stay,” he said at a sponsor event in São Paulo, the Express claim.

The paper also claims that Spurs boss Andre Villas-Boas is preparing to step-up his interest in the player, as the White Hart Lane outfit look to mount a challenge for Champions League places.

A number of Brazilians already ply their trade in north London, and if Tottenham Hotspur were able to snare Neilton, he’d join the likes of Sandro and Paulinho.
