Lee Cattermole's red card at the weekend prompted memories of the halcyon days of the Premier League when the likes of Roy Keane and Patrick Vieira were tearing through the opposition on a weekly basis.
Cattermole's sending off against Hull was his fifth for Sunderland and his seventh in total, which makes the midfielder the player with the joint-second most reds in the league's history at the age of only 25.
The former Black Cats skipper is level with Manchester United legend Keane, somewhat surprisingly, while Vieira shares the lead with the likes of Duncan Ferguson and Vinnie Jones on eight sendings off.
Along with Cattermole, Andrea Dossena was also sent off on Saturday but, such is the luck of Gus Poyet's side, they are unable to even top the charts as the Premier League's chief aggressors this season.
