With the departure of Jose Mourinho, Chelsea became a shadow of their former selves and United stepped in to usher in complete dominance in England. 

The years when Cristiano Ronaldo, Wayne Rooney and Carlos Tevez were terrorising back-lines were possibly some of Sir Alex Ferguson's most enjoyable.

Ronaldo was capable of single-handedly destroying teams, Nemanja Vidic and Rio Ferdinand were towering paragons of strength at the back and the midfield was overflowing with creative genius. 

They claimed two Premier League titles on the bounce, one League Cup and one Community Shield.

... Then there's the small matter of pipping Chelsea to the Champions League trophy.
