Lewis Holtby has backed the new generation of German stars to arrive in England and take the Premier League by storm.

There is a already a strong contingent of German stars already plying their trade in the Premier League, including Holtby, Arsenal trio Mesut Ozil, Lukas Podolski and Per Mertesacker, and Chelsea ace Andre Schürrle.

They could soon be joined by emerging starlets such as Julian Draxler and Marco Reus, who have both attracted interest from Premier League clubs.

Arsenal are said to be chasing Draxler while Chelsea have been credited with an interest in both players.

"Draxler is on the list of every big team,” Holtby told Standard Sport. “He is a fantastic young player and I think a lot of money will probably be spent on him. I don’t know whether he wants to come but there are a lot of players there.

“People say Marco Reus is in talks with everyone here so Germany have a number of big talents and the Premier League is very keen on getting them in. You also look at Adam Szalai, the Hungarian striker at Schalke."

Holtby arrived at Tottenham from Schalke last January, and has earned himself something of a cult following at White Hart Lane thanks to his infectious personality.

The 23-year-old is currently keeping rival Christian Eriksen out of Tottenham's first team, although he is expected to drop down to the bench for the Europa League game against Sheriff Tiraspol this evening.

“It’s good that so many Germans are coming to the Premier League, which I believe is the best and most attractive competition in the world," he continued.

"German players are very dedicated and professional. It’s the dedication that makes them attractive to clubs.

“It’s also great to have other German players in London, good to speak a bit of German, and more and more of them will come. Every German player is welcome in England.”

Draxler, who had the chance to impress in the Champions League against Chelsea yesterday, has previously laughed off rumours of a big money move to Arsenal and penned a new deal with Schalke.

"In the last few years the Bundesliga has had a really positive development and is now one of the top leagues," he said.

"You could see that by the sides in the Champions League final.

”We can win major European titles now.

“English football and the Premier League is also one of the best.

"I have had chats with Andre about it but my focus is with Schalke.”

Reus meanwhile could do little as Arsenal claimed a victory against Dortmund in the Champions League. Aaron Ramsey got the only goal for the Gunners as the claimed top spot in Group F.

Reports last month suggested Chelsea were weighing up a £35 million offer for the talented youngster.
