The anticipation has finally come to an end as jockey AP McCoy wrote his name into the history books, riding the 4000th winner of his career.
It came on board 6/4 favourite Mountain Tunes at Towcester in the 3.10 this afternoon.
The jockey, who has won the National Hunt's Jockey's Championship for the last 18 seasons, has again managed to do what no jockey has done before.
Although coming into the straight McCoy looked to be struggling, he kept on the tail of leader Kris Spin, closing on the second last flight from home and using his vintage 'McCoy drive' to get the Jonjo O'Neil-trained horse home first.
He has had an unbelievable career, and it will continue this season with fantastic rides such as World Hurdle second-favourite At Fishers Cross and Champion Hurdle fancy My Tent or Yours at Cheltenham - as well as other top JP McManus-owned horses.
On the matter, McCoy said "It couldn't have gone any better.
"It's amazing - the racing people are fantastic. I'm so pleased I did it for Jonjo and JP and (McManus' wife) Noreen, who have been so good to me."
McCoy will now head to Southwell tomorrow, when the legend will look to add to his record number of winners and capture an incredible 19th jockey's championship.
He will do so with the taste of champagne however, after being drenched by his peers following the famous victory.
