As many as four Premier League clubs are tracking the progress of Lazio goalkeeper Federico Marchetti, reports the Daily Express.

Arsenal, Manchester City, Manchester United and Tottenham have all been credited with an interest in the player that Barcelona have reportedly earmarked as a potential replacement for Victor Valdes.

Barcelona have been strongly linked with a move for Borussia Monchengladbach's Marc-Andre ted Stegen and Liverpool's Pepe Reina but Marchetti has been added to the shortlist for Camp Nou's new number one.

However, Rome daily Il Tempo says the La Liga champions face competition from the Premier League clubs for the 30-year-old.

Arsenal are still thought to be considering a move for a goalkeeper to give Wojciech Szczesny competition for the number one jersey at the Emirates.

The Gunners signed Emiliano Viviano on a season-long loan, but the Italian is yet to make an appearance and is the third choice behind Lukas Fabianski.

Manchester United have seen David de Gea come through a patchy start to his Old Trafford career but are reportedly interested in increasing their depth in quality between the sticks at Old Trafford.

Manchester City are increasingly being linked with a move for a new 'keeper with manager Manuel Pellegrini seemingly losing faith in Joe Hart.

Hart has been dropped in favour of Costel Pantilimon but the Romanian is not considered a long-term option at the Etihad.

Tottenham will be seeking a replacement for the their back up 'keeper Brad Friedel, 42, who is thought to be nearing retirement at White Hart Lane.

Hugo Lloris has been in fine form, however, and is unlikely to be displaced by Marchetti meaning the Italian stopper would have to play understudy for the Lillywhites.
