The Chicago Blackhawks made winning look easy in their 4-1 win against the Winnipeg Jets on Thursday night.

Captain Jonathan Teows started the scoring and Patrick Kane sealed the victory late in the game.

This victory is the Blackhawks fourth win in five games. Jet’s goaltender Al Montoya stood on his head to try and give his team a chance to win.

However, there was no real offensive response from the Jet’s forwards. Two early powerplay opportunities were squandered by the Jet’s and things just seemed to go downhill from there.

Jet’s defencemen Adam Pardy got put through the glass, and got some of his equipment stolen as well. This clearly wasn’t a good night for the Winnipeg Jets.

For the Blackhawks this victory was very straight forward. The team’s top forwards Teows, Sharp, and Kane were able to control the game.

In the end, the speed and playmaking abilities of the Blackhawks top lines proved to be too much for the Jets. The Jets will certainly be hoping to turn things around in their next game.

I believe the Jets are one of the teams that must be active leading up to the trade deadline this year. Clearly this group of players doesn’t have the depth or consistency required to win games and succeed in this league.

Bryan Little is the only forward on the Jet’s roster that has shown any kind of consistency so far. And there seems to be no strength in the team’s defensive lines either. This fact was proven yet again last night with the Blackhawks two opening goals. Those goals were scored within two minutes of each other.

Therefore, I believe it’s time for the Jet’s to start trading players. Dustin Byfuglien and Tobias Enstrom need some help in the defensive end. I hope that the Jet’s will attempt to trade some forwards for defencemen.

That way the team will have a chance to win more games consistently. The forwards have proven they can score so consistency will come in that area. I believe the issue with this team is in the defensive end, and if they can fix that quickly, the Jet’s will be able to turn things around.
