Gareth Bale’s £86m move to Real Madrid this summer saw not only the biggest transfer fee paid for a player but also an unimaginable amount of pressure placed on the shoulders of the young Welshman.

When such a spectacular sum of money is paid for a player, the expectation for them to pay off their price tag is immense, none more so than when you become the world’s most expensive purchase.

However, with Bale going into a side that already possesses an abundance of attacking talent and arguably one of the best two players in the world in Cristiano Ronaldo, standing out from the crowd is a tough job no matter who you are.

With many people using Ronaldo’s success as a measurement of Bale's impact at the Bernabeu, the former Tottenham player has a mountain to climb if he’s ever going to eclipse the stunning legacy that the Portuguese ace is already leaving behind.

So with Ronaldo’s goalscoring form considered and his legendary status at the club already well into its formation, what is the best way for Bale to prove himself with the Madrid giants and live up to the expectations that his record breaking transfer fee has set?

Well with Ronaldo undoubtedly on track to being the clubs top scorer this season, Bale must do more than come second to his teammate in the scoring charts, meaning the Welsh international should focus more on creating goals for his side than being the player that scores them.

Assists can provide Bale with an element to his game that will remove him from Ronaldo’s shadow, as he will gain recognition for not only his goalscoring contribution but also the work he does for the team.

With Bale occupying a wide role for the Spanish club, he will often be relied upon to create opportunities for his teammates and be the source of Madrid’s attack.

Bale is unlikely to match the Madrid number seven in terms of goals scored, therefore his best opportunity to make his mark for the La Liga side is by bettering the number of assists tallied by his teammate, whilst also chipping in with a respectable collection of goals.

Players often have to adapt when joining a new club and Bale has certainly had to do that, with his starring role at White Hart Lane coming to an end and his latest adventure placing the boy from Wales in among some of the finest stars in the world.

But for now, Bale needs to prove his worth at the Bernabeu and despite his undoubted ability to find the back of the net, perhaps it would be best if he focused on creating the goals that will take the limelight off his summer arrival.
