Arsenal were linked with a surprise move for Manchester United striker Javier Hernandez earlier this week, and now Gunners boss Arsene Wenger has had his say.

The Mexico international has not been a regular fixture in the first team since the arrival of Robin van Persie just over a year ago and reports emerged that he was considering leaving to find first team football.

One such report linked him with a shock move to Manchester United's Premier League rivals Arsenal in January, but any Gunners fans hoping a deal could be done may have been disappointed by Wenger's repsonse.

"That is just the normal English coincidence with the next game," he told reporters with a smile.

The next game in question is Arsenal's trip to Old Trafford where they will be attempting to gain a victory that will take them 11 points clear of the defending champions and make a statement about their title credentials.

Manchester United, however, are much improved after their stuttering start to the defence of their Premier League crown and will be hoping to make a statement of their own, as well as tightening up the title race once again.
