Chelsea have made a £12million bid for Schalke starlet Max Meyer ahead of the January transfer window, according to the Metro.
Meyer has been the subject of speculation concerning a move to Stamford Bridge recently, with scouts of the Blues pin-pointing him as one to watch for the future.
And now it seems Jose Mourinho and co. have firmed up their interest with a formal offer to the German outfit. It's believed that Schalke were set to hold out for around £15million, but Chelsea are confident of getting him at a cut-price.
According to sources the bid was lodged before Chelsea's clash with Meyer's club in the Champions League and are currently waiting to hear back as to whether or not the offer was a successful one.
The news of Chelsea's move for Meyer comes in the wake of rumoured interest in one of Schalke's other starlets Julian Draxler, though the 21-year-old is also being followed by a host of other clubs.
