Liverpool are ready to make a bid for Derby County starlet Will Hughes, reports The Sun.

Brendan Rodgers has stepped up his pursuit of the highly rated teenager and is preparing a move for the starlet before the January transfer window.

Hughes, who is rated at around £12m by his current club, has also been linked with a move to Premier League giants Manchester United and Arsenal.

And with England's elite clubs monitoring Hughes' situation at County, the Reds now look set to up their interest in the youngster.

Hughes, who scored in Derby's 3-0 victory over Sheffield Wednesday yesterday, has also played a key role in England's U21 side of late.

And with Derby looking for a push to the Premier League, County will be desperate to keep the 18-year-old at the club until at-least next summer.

However Rodgers will be hoping to beat his rivals for the signature of England's latest fine prospect and he will hope an early move for the youngster will keep him away from the likes of United and Arsenal.
